As part of the 2010 Canada International Film Festival, Eric Warwaruk won an award for Voice Over, a short film he wrote, produced and directed.

Eric took classes at PTE School between 2005 and 2007, including Adult Acting I & II, Improvisation as well as Film & TV Bootcamp with John B. last spring (2009).
The main character is none other than Toni Reimer of PTE@PTE 2008/09 fame.
Quinn Greene, who was part of our Adult Company last year (2008-09) also stars, as does Daniel Thau-Eleff, who was one of the actors in PTE’s Love You Forever and Other Stories by Robert Munsch in 2006/07.

Great to see two of our fave fearless & funny females RobYn Slade and Jane Testar, on Breakfast Television last week. The gals were setting the stage for their new `Sketch it Out` workshop at PTE School.

MORE PTE@PTE Auditions

The first round of auditions for PTE@PTE went very well last week and we were very impressed by some of the very talented actors that came out.

However, we’ve had quite a few calls and email enquiries from actors who are interested in this exciting program but were unable to book an audition spot last week.

In order to give everyone a chance to participate in this exciting training opportunity, we have scheduled a second round of auditions for the afternoon of Sunday November 29, 2009.

PTE@PTE = Performance Training Ensemble at Prairie Theatre Exchange

Who is it for?
PTE @ PTE is an advanced training program for
serious emerging adult actors who have some experience
and training and have made a commitment to develop
their talent and performance skills to the highest level
in preparation for a professional acting career.

What ’s so special about it ?

PTE @ PTE is the most advanced, intense program
offered at PTE School. The program enhances prior
training and experience with the realistic knowledge
and practical skills needed to make the transition to
becoming a professional actor.
PTE @ PTE is a practical opportunity for trained and
experienced actors to develop their skills and talents
as part of a performance ensemble with the guidance,
instruction and support of Winnipeg’s finest theatre
professionals. You will be directed by a professional
director and showcase their talents in a public
performance on PTE’s main stage.

How does it work?
PTE @ PTE is a training program structured around
rehearsals and performance of a play. Ensemble
members will attend rehearsals and classes three
evenings per week to receive intensive training along
with private coaching as they prepare for a public
performance of a full-length play. The program will
culminate in a public performance presented on the
main stage at Prairie Theatre Exchange.

Who RUNS THE SHOW?
All PTE @ PTE classes will be taught by the highest
caliber of working, professional theatre & film artists
including Miriam Smith, Debbie Patterson, Brenda
Mclean and John B. Lowe. PTE’s Artistic Director
Robert Metcalfe will act as Artistic Consultant. The
PTE @ PTE main stage production will be directed
by Chris Sigurdson, one of Winnipeg’s leading actor/
directors.

Halloween Fun at PTE School

Halloween sure was fun last week at PTE School. So many students wore their Halloween costumes to class and everyone got the chance to go through the Haunted house that was so spoooooky! Thanks to the great work of Kris Janssen and Derek Schroder for putting it all together. It was frighteningly fantastic. Thanks also to Kelsey Noren, Mandalyn Unger, Kieran West, Erin Scheirer, Miranda Lowe and Andrew Vienberg and Witchiepoo Liz, for populating the Sinister Saan Studio.

Performance Opportunities at PTE School

PTE School provides many Performance Opportunities for all of our students:

Presentations & Cabarets Most PTE performance classes culminate in end of year presentations and cabarets in our classroom studios or onstage in the Colin Jackson Studio Theatre.

Open Stages Adults and Teen PTE students have an opportunity to perform prepared scenes, monologues and songs in front of a live audience in the Colin Jackson Studio Theatre.

Experienced PTE students may audition in September to join one of our performance companies: Junior Company, Young Company or Adult Company.

The Adult Improv Company is a combination of classroom work and public performance under the guidance of professional improvisers. Auditions are in September.

Musical Theatre Ensemble is for experienced musical theatre students interested in developing their performance skills. The focus of the Company is on rehearsal and performance techniques with opportunities to perform in various theatre and cabaret settings at the end of the year. The Musical Theatre Ensemble will train in a rehearsal environment and perform a musical variety show in the Colin Jackson Studio Theatre and other venues in the Winter and Spring of 2010. Auditions are in the fall.

Professional Training Ensemble is a part time professional training program for serious emerging actors. Work with other talented & motivated actors in practical, creative classes. Learn about the actor's craft and develop your talent and performance skills as part of a performance ensemble. Auditions are in September.
